Join the OrthoNC ASC Team

OrthoNC is seeking an experienced full-time OR Surgical Technologist to support our Ambulatory Surgery Center (ASC) team. This role is essential in assisting surgeons, nurses, and staff to ensure the highest quality patient care in the operating room. The OR Surgical Technologist plays a critical role in maintaining a sterile environment, managing instruments and equipment, and anticipating the needs of the surgical team.

What You’ll Do

Clinical & Technical Responsibilities

  • Prepare and maintain the sterile field, instruments, and equipment needed for procedures
  • Anticipate the needs of the surgeon to ensure efficiency and patient safety
  • Troubleshoot and report equipment issues, ensuring functionality prior to use
  • Assist with surgical counts and initiate corrective action when needed
  • Handle instruments, supplies, and equipment in accordance with sterile processing standards
  • Support OR turnover, case pulling, and preparation of sterile supplies
  • Assist in decontaminating instruments per facility protocol

Equipment Management

  • Safely operate mechanical, electrical, and air-powered equipment per manufacturer guidelines
  • Select, organize, and provide equipment and supplies in a cost-effective and timely manner
  • Maintain availability of emergency equipment and supplies

Documentation & Quality

  • Follow medical record policies and participate in QAPI processes
  • Support quality improvement initiatives to improve performance and outcomes
  • Mentor and precept new staff when needed
  • Identify and report suspected abuse per protocol

Required Education & Experience

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Graduate of an accredited Surgical Technology program
  • Minimum of 2 years’ operating room experience (hospital or ambulatory surgery center)
  • Current BLS certification

Preferred Education & Experience

  • Surgical Technologist Certification

Work Environment & Schedule

  • Professional clinical and surgical setting
  • Use of operating room machinery, autoclaves, sterilizers, and patient monitors
  • Ability to stand for long periods, lift/carry up to 50 lbs, and assist with patient transport
  • Monday-Friday: 6:30 AM - 3:30 PM. May include adjustments to working hours depending on the OR schedule
