Indeed Interactive 2019 will be held May 13-15 in Austin, Texas — and this year, it’s going to be bigger and better than ever. Aimed at talent-acquisition and -management professionals, our conference features an informative lineup of sessions from subject-matter experts in a variety of industries.
This year, you’ll learn to solve “The Talent Equation” by identifying what drives candidate decision-making and formulating strategies to stand out to top talent. You’ll also hear from thought leaders, connect with your peers; and gain new skills and insights.
While there’s something to learn at every session, here are seven in particular you won’t want to miss:
1. Decisions, Decisions: The Art and Science Behind Becoming Top Talent’s Top Choice
Job searching includes a series of decisions, including whether to look for a new job, commit to the interview process and accept the job offer. Factors such as salary, benefits and growth potential all contribute to candidates’ final choice. But are there less obvious influences on job seekers’ thinking?
In this session, Sheena Iyengar, professor at Columbia Business School and best-selling author of “The Art of Choosing,” will break down the art and science behind the decision-making process, giving you helpful insights and strategies to make more candidates want to work with you.
2. Creating a Thriving Workplace Through Career Roadmapping
In a job market where the number of available positions outnumber job seekers, turnover is on the rise. Employees can always look elsewhere if their current role doesn’t meet their expectations — and according to a 2018 Indeed study, 24% of job seekers do just that when their companies offer no room to grow. So what can talent-acquisition professionals do to increase retention and grow the workforce?
Nate Wigert, Recruitment Evangelist at Indeed, will share how to create clear paths toward growth and development for your current employees and provide best practices for career roadmapping.
3. To Attract Top Talent, Tell a Great Story
In this session, we have a meeting of two worlds: branding is represented by Indeed Vice President of Global Brand Marketing Jennifer Warren, while Director of Employer Brand at Indeed Bryan Chaney will discuss how these principles apply to hiring.
Together, they will explore how to leverage engaging, authentic brand storytelling to make an emotional connection with potential hires and attract top talent. You’ll also learn the essential components of a compelling brand story and gain research-based insights on the importance of storytelling in consumer and employer branding.
4. Marketing Beyond Millennials: Creating an Inclusive Recruitment Message Across Multiple Generations
Did you know that four generations are working side by side in today’s workforce? Yet according to PwC, only 8% of organizations include age as part of their diversity and inclusion strategies.
In this session with Danny Stacy, Recruitment Evangelist at Indeed, you’ll learn about the benefits of an inclusive workplace with age diversity, as well as how to market your jobs more effectively to each generation’s top talent. Walk away with an understanding of how each generation looks for work, as well as how to tailor recruiting messages to different age groups.
5. Defining and Communicating Your Personal Brand
You may not think about it this way, but you probably already have a professional “personal brand” — and it’s more than just your reputation. It also includes your unique qualities and skill sets. So how can you manage your brand to create personal and professional opportunities that will ultimately grow your career?
In this session, Jennifer McClure, founder and CEO of Unbridled Talent LLC and DisruptHR LLC, will discuss how to identify, communicate and promote your personal brand.
6. The Best Stories Win: How to Make (or Break) Your Brand with the Stories You Tell
Talent experts are an extension of their employer brand and have the powerful opportunity to tell a story with every interaction. Join Matthew Luhn — former Pixar animator, story artist and author — to learn how you can craft and communicate a brand story that draws job seekers to you.
For more inspiration from Matthew, be sure to attend the breakout session after his keynote presentation. He’ll share strategies for harnessing the power of storytelling to build a better brand and enhance business communication.
7. Making a Social Impact
Did you know that millions of job candidates aren’t getting a fair shot due to hiring practices that screen out qualified candidates? Join Indeed’s Director of Social Impact Abbey Carlton for a session on how businesses can give more job seekers access to opportunities by diversifying talent pipelines, incorporating inclusive hiring practices and leveraging social impact.
Abbey will lead an interactive Q&A with a pair of talent leaders about how inclusive hiring is good for business. They’ll also give practical tips and share strategies for implementing these hiring practices at your company.
These are just some of the insightful sessions that will be at Indeed Interactive this year. So what are you waiting for? Register today, and join us for two days of learning and networking!
