Role Overview
The Blader-Welder I, Field Outage Servicesis an entry‑level role focused on repairing Steam and Gas Turbine components. This position sets up and operates welding equipment (SMAW, GTAW, Plasma, SAW), reads and interprets technical drawings, and supports turbine blade removal, replacement, and diaphragm restoration.
This role involves hands‑on technical work, precision measurement, travel to job sites, and occasional access to nuclear facilities. The ideal candidate is mechanically inclined, able to interpret technical data, and eager to grow their welding expertise.

Key Responsabilities

  • Demonstrates our core competencies: Action oriented, change champion, customer-focused, developing self & others, and ownership
  • Set up and operate welding equipment for SAW, GTAW, SMAW, and plasma welding methods
  • Set up and operate portable welding equipment
  • Restore steam turbine diaphragms to blueprint specifications
  • Remove and replace steam turbine blades (rotating and stationary), including tenon peening and shroud assembly
  • Perform air baffle modifications and replacements
  • Measure and repair compressor hook fits
  • Use precision measuring tools (OD/ID micrometers, dial indicators, dial calipers)
  • Conduct dimensional inspections on various products
  • Clean machines, tooling, and parts; perform preventive maintenance as assigned
  • Read and interpret technical drawings and blueprints
  • Support tooling, parts, and material inventory management
  • Travel extensively (at least 70%), by land and/or air
  • Access nuclear plants as required
  • Obtain necessary welding certifications
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Requirements

  • Education/Experience: High school diploma or equivalent; OR three (3) years of related experience/training; OR equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Language Skills: Ability to read and comprehend instructions, memos, and technical documentation; ability to write clear correspondence; ability to present information effectively
  • Math Skills: Competency in calculations required for job duties
  • Reasoning Ability: Strong judgment based on specifications and technical requirements
  • Computer Skills: Proficiency with email, word processing, spreadsheets, graphics, and drawings

Physical & Safety Requirements

This role requires regular standing, walking, bending, speaking, and hearing. Employees must frequently lift/move up to 25 pounds and occasionally up to 50 pounds. The work environment may include exposure to toxic or caustic chemicals and loud conditions.
Team members must follow Mitsubishi Power and customer safety procedures, including required PPE such as hard hats, safety glasses, goggles, hearing protection, and fall protection.
