Unconventional Talent Strategies for 2022: What’s Next for Indeed Leadership Connect

By Indeed Editorial Team
We recently surveyed Indeed Leadership Connect’s members, a group of the top talent leaders in the US, to learn more about what they need to succeed right now. We found that, above all, you’re having to build the plane as you fly it. The old playbooks aren’t just outdated; they’re often irrelevant. Talent leaders need new strategies, fresh thinking and support — from experts, yes, but also from one another.

Our survey showed that talent scarcity is the bottom line. Nearly 70% said that retaining employees is the number-one concern, with recruiting a close second at 62%. Meanwhile, only 23% named COVID-19 as a top issue, a sign of how quickly the world of work can change in just a few months.

From the start, Indeed Leadership Connect was designed to be agile and adaptable to the rapidly changing talent landscape. Given the pace of change we’re seeing in 2022 and feedback from our survey, we’re expanding the program. In the coming months, we’ll be bringing you more opportunities to brainstorm, collaborate, network and build solutions together for the hiring and retention problems that are unlike anything we’ve experienced before. And we’ll explore strategies you might not have considered before, too.

We’re bringing together a council of renowned experts from business, civic life and culture to lead conversations through exclusive member content, private roundtables, public webinars and — we’ve waited more than two long years for this — in-person events. (More details coming soon.)

The Indeed Leadership Connect community collectively employs more than 3 million people. We’re continuing to grow this community of peers from some of the top national and global companies to support and learn from one another. And we’ll provide valuable, actionable information to help you navigate the challenges you face today, with a focus on hiring and retaining the people that your companies need to soar.

In addition to what we’re planning for Indeed Leadership Connect, Indeed will be actively participating in some of the most important conferences of the year, including the SHRM Annual Conference & Expo and HR Tech 2022. And with the return this October of our in-person marquee event, formerly known as Indeed Interactive, there will be no shortage of meaningful opportunities to connect, learn and grow as talent leaders this year.

This spring: Exploring an often overlooked talent pipeline

We’ve heard from you that, as labor shortages persist, you need new ways to find talent. It’s our belief that the formerly incarcerated population represents a significant talent pipeline that’s too often overlooked.

To inform the important conversation on fair-chance hiring, we’re bringing Andrew Glazier, CEO of Defy Ventures, a national nonprofit helping currently and formerly incarcerated people get jobs, and Quan Huynh, a formerly incarcerated entrepreneur and author, to the Indeed Leadership Connect community.

In a virtual roundtable discussion, Glazier and Huynh will talk candidly about the obstacles and opportunities around fair-chance hiring. And they’ll offer practical, actionable ways to build this talent strategy into your company successfully.

This summer: The business case for workplace well-being

Down the road, we’ll shift our focus to workplace well-being.

We know that professional dissatisfaction is driving much of the Great Resignation — or the Great Realization, as Indeed sees it. Sometimes the fix is easy — more money and better benefits. But increasingly, the evidence shows it’s about culture and belonging, something difficult to measure and even harder to build.

At Indeed, we believe that workplace happiness can be a cornerstone of a successful culture. With that in mind, we’ve worked for several years now with Jan-Emmanuel De Neve, Ph.D, Professor of Economics and Behavioural Science and Director of the Wellbeing Research Centre at the University of Oxford. Through our collaboration, Indeed developed the Work Happiness Score. And we’ve amassed the biggest data set in the world showing employee well-being across more than 30,000 companies and counting.

In a third-quarter virtual roundtable, Professor De Neve will exclusively share some of his newest findings on the business case for employee well-being and offer his research-backed recommendations for creating happiness at work.

We’ll share details about the fair-chance hiring and workplace well-being events soon.
