The Vendor Managed Inventory Specialistis responsible for selling, implementing, maintaining, managing and replenishing the inventory at our customers locations in assigned territories, by way of joint calls with Account Managers or independent sales calls. It is an extended service role requiring collaborative relationship with our customer buyers and our internal teams. Primary Focus

Our Osoyoos packing facility receives fruit (including cherries, stone fruit, pears, and apples) in bulk from Okanagan-based growers and sorts it for quality and size before packaging it for shipment to our domestic and international customers. Our Oliver warehouse provides storage for inventories of packaged product and packaging materials. Safe and seamless production flow and accurate inventory practices are important aspects of ensuring the quality of produce for our customers.

Job Context and Accountabilities

Oliver Warehouse:
  • Accurate maintenance of shipping and receiving information for packaging inventory, using software programs to log packaging materials into and out of the facility

Osoyoos Packing Facility:
  • Accurate maintenance of shipping and receiving information for packaging inventory and packaged product, using software programs to log packaging materials and product into and out of the facility
  • Accurate and timely physical inventory counting and, in conjunction with Accounting, reconciling inventory counts in the system with actual inventory
  • Safe and responsible operation of pallet jacks, propane and electric forklifts inside and outside of the facilities, as well as safe and responsible operation of 5-ton truck to:
  • Transport packaging materials and packaged fruit and/or fruit bins and pallets on and off trucks
  • Transport packaging materials between packing facilities and Oliver warehouse
  • Weigh and stack fruit bins

Working conditions

Plant operating hours are dependent on crop, production, and shipping needs, with extended hours, limited days off, and seven-day-a-week operations common during peak months (June through October). This position involves work on evenings and/or weekends, due in part to the timing of month-end inventory responsibilities.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Work closely with expeditors, inspectors, shipping and logistics staff, freight forwarders and technical and commercial support staff, for the supply of necessary materials, equipment and construction services, in accordance with the project’s standards, specifications and schedule
  • Establish and maintain maximum and minimum consumables, spare parts and critical parts and tools inventory levels
