Indeed Reimagines Hiring, Using AI to Help Employers Find Quality Talent Faster

By Indeed Editorial Team
With Career Scout, Talent Scout, Premium Sponsored Jobs, and Indeed Connect, Indeed is making hiring simpler, faster and more human than ever before.

Key Takeaways

  • Both employers and job seekers face real challenges during the hiring process. Employers often feel deluged by unqualified applicants; applicants are frustrated that they never hear back.
  • This two-sided problem now has a two-sided solution: Indeed’s new AI-powered hiring product suite, announced at Indeed FutureWorks.
  • Two new AI agents — Indeed Career Scout for job seekers and Indeed Talent Scout for employers — work alongside Premium Sponsored Jobs and Indeed Connect to help job seekers discover and land the right job faster and help employers find and hire quality talent more efficiently.
  • These innovations create a more connected hiring experience, as Indeed has evolved from a job search site to an AI-powered talent sourcing and engagement platform.

Imagine having access to a talent agent who understands everything about your company — and knows who, among millions of potential applicants, is the best fit for your available role.

Enter: Indeed Talent Scout, Indeed’s AI-powered hiring agent designed to transform how employers engage, find and hire the right talent. It’s not just matching technology. It gives employers real-time proactive insights, recommendations to boost job-post performance, and helps find the ideal candidate via an intuitive conversational interface.

“[Talent Scout] helps with time-consuming steps of hiring — like sourcing, matching and outreach — so that you can focus on making the right hire,” Indeed CEO Hisayuki “Deko” Idekoba (above center) said at Indeed FutureWorks 2025 in New Orleans.

“We help people get jobs. This is our mission. But we cannot achieve this mission without employers like you," Idekoba said to open the event.

Talent Scout for employers and Indeed Career Scout for job seekers — as well as other AI-powered tools such as Premium Sponsored Jobs and Indeed Connect  — come at a time of immense change in hiring.

“At Indeed, we see this as a once-in-a-generation moment to reimagine hiring from the ground up — to make it simpler, faster and more human,” Indeed Chief Marketing Officer James Whitemore (above left) told the FutureWorks crowd. “We believe that AI combined with human imagination can unlock that future.”

This new reality, as Indeed Chief Revenue Officer Maggie Hulce (above right) explained in her keynote, is shaped by two opposing ideals: Many news articles paint a dark picture of AI replacing jobs, while others predict the largest unlocking of human productivity and creativity we’ve ever seen.

The generative AI wave is “different from past examples of tech innovation — both in size and speed,” Hulce said. “This is not a wave we’ve handled before, and the winners will be the ones who learn to surf it quickly.”

Indeed’s new suite of products fully utilizes AI to help employers find better-quality talent and job seekers find better-quality jobs for a faster, easier hiring process.

The following are excerpts from Hulce’s keynote, edited for brevity and clarity.

Two-sided Problems Call for Two-sided Solutions

Many employers still struggle with too few solid candidates for some roles, and way too many unqualified candidates for others. And even as hiring software gets slicker, time to hire is actually getting worse, and the pressure is on for talent acquisition teams to do more with less.

Meanwhile, 88% of job seekers want more details about jobs and companies up front.1 The lack of these details is a big driver of poor-fit applications. And still, almost 75% of job seekers never hear back after applying. Out of frustration, they apply to more and more jobs, creating more work for them and for employers. AI tools designed for mass applications are already making this problem worse!

This is a hard problem to solve because it’s two-sided. Both sides feel frustrated for valid reasons. But it doesn’t have to be this way, and we at Indeed are uniquely qualified to help.

How? With Career Scout, Indeed’s personalized AI career coach for job seekers, and Talent Scout, an intelligent, conversational hiring agent that works like a member of the employer’s team. Together, they help both job seekers and employers accelerate the hiring process.

Indeed Chief Revenue Officer Maggie Hulce speaks in front a presentation screen wearing a hot pink dress and matching jacket, with her long brunette hair held back with a braidd headband. The screen behind her reads, "Better quality" and "faster and easier."

"It's a new era of innovation at Indeed, and we are so incredibly excited about the potential it holds for both job seekers and employers," Hulce said at Indeed FutureWorks 2025. "And we will keep your key asks in mind, making sure our innovations deliver better quality and make hiring faster and easier."

Career Scout gets to know job seekers as people — just like a career coach would do. The AI-powered agent learns about their skills, commute preferences, schedule and salary — all of which go beyond a traditional resume. Indeed then uses these insights to help job seekers discover, prepare for and land the right job faster.

For employers, Talent Scout offers the ability to ask questions in natural language to get real-time, proactive insights about their jobs. Talent Scout also helps boost the performance of jobs on Indeed via improvements to title, location, description, benefits and/or pay.

In addition, Talent Scout includes capabilities that allow employers to tune and source candidates for their jobs on Indeed or from within their ATS if they are using Workday, Workable or isolved.

Together, Career Scout and Talent Scout reimagine the hiring experience to reduce friction, save time and connect people to opportunities.

Indeed CRO Maggie Hulce discusses how businesses can navigate hiring's powerful, unpredictable wave of innovation. She'll show how we're better partnering with companies to shape talent strategies, ensure quality matches, and streamline hiring processes.

Early Results Show Faster Hires, Better Matches

Career Scout has been rolling out over the past two months, and so far, Indeed’s internal data is showing some great results:

  • 84% of job seekers find Career Scout valuable.2
  • It’s 7x faster to find and apply to relevant jobs with Career Scout.3
  • 38% of job seekers are more likely to get hired with Career Scout.4

More than 1,000 employers have already started using Talent Scout — with some great results.

For example, in just four weeks, a BrightSpring Health Services clinical recruiter saw a 45% increase in hard-to-fill hires and saved eight hours per week using Talent Scout, finding it an efficient tool for sourcing qualified candidates.

Career Scout and Talent Scout Are Just the Beginning

This year, Indeed has been rolling out a new version of Sponsored Jobs. Called Premium Sponsored Jobs, it blends branding, advertising and sourcing, and offers the best of Indeed’s matching and targeting — all in one.

Roughly 350,000 employers have tried it and experienced many of its benefits, including:

  • An Urgently Hiring label, which helps employers make hires five days faster
  • Advanced Matching that uses our smart matching technology to automatically connect your job posts with the right people by analyzing job requirements and putting them in front of candidates who already have those specific skills
  • Location targeting to adjust employers’ desired radius, and to reach the 10 million job seekers who have told Indeed that they are willing to relocate
  • Access to Indeed’s network of specialty partners, which helps reach passive candidates and drive a 4x increase in relevant applications
  • And, for the first time for jobs from an ATS, the ability to get matched candidates suggested for a job. Employers can review and decide which candidates to invite to apply. Employer-led outreach gets a 40% positive response rate.5

Ninety-six percent of enterprise employers who have used Premium Sponsored Jobs agree that it increases the number of candidates who meet their hiring needs.6

Get the Most Out of Indeed with Indeed Connect

With more information from both job seekers and employers, Indeed can deliver better matches, which increases quality and decreases time to hire. And with Indeed Connect, coming in January 2026, employers who set up ATS integration will receive exclusive benefits.

This includes enhanced marketplace benefits, exclusive access to new AI-powered products and preferential terms with annual deals.

Indeed Connect clients will also receive Candidate Summaries in their ATS. These include an actionable summary for every application. They will also receive exclusive access to trial Advanced Screening, designed to save hours of screening time for every role without sacrificing confidence. With Advanced Screening, employers can customize the exact criteria they’re looking for in a candidate, typed in natural language. Indeed will capture candidate context through dynamic, open-ended questions and allow employers to confirm identity and credentials.

Indeed Chief Marketing Officer James Whitemore speaks on the stage wearing a dark grey jacket, matching vest, and pants over a white colalred shirt with black glasses, gray hair, and gray mustache and beard. He's in front of a sign reading Indeed Futureworks 2025 in blue letter on a wooden background. Beside him is a presentaiton screen reading in all capital letters,

"I can't imagine a better way to start a new role than being surrounded by so many of our clients, here and online," Whitemore told the crowd. "You are the people shaping the future of hiring and work."

As an Indeed Connect client, employers will also receive access to Advanced Sourcing — designed to bring warm, qualified candidates directly into an ATS — sourcing talent for employers while they sleep. With Advanced Sourcing, employers can also tailor the criteria they’re looking for in a candidate, including how stringent to be with requirements. Then, on the employer’s behalf, Indeed will reach out to qualified candidates from its vast talent pool, acting as an extension of an employer’s team.

The earliest Indeed Connect clients are already two times more likely to make a hire,7 and we are just getting started.

The Future of Hiring Starts Now

Indeed has transformed from a site primarily focused on search to an AI-powered sourcing and engagement platform.

This AI wave is going to change hiring, and we want to make sure that we actually like the future we’re creating. We want to feel, without hesitation, that the new way, enabled by AI, is better.

Chief Marketing Officer James Whitemore kicks off the two-day Indeed FutureWorks 2025 with a warm welcome – and a confession.

Indeed’s Chief Executive Officer Hisayuki “Deko” Idekoba explains how new AI-powered innovations from Indeed help employers focus on what’s most important.
