Notice to Candidates: Recruitment Fraud Alert

Indeed has been made aware of fraudulent recruitment messages, including emails, phone calls, and text messages, from individuals or organizations falsely claiming to represent Indeed.

These scams may appear on job boards, social media platforms, or websites that imitate Indeed’s branding, careers site, or email addresses. Please note: Indeed recruits directly and does not use third-party agencies to hire on our behalf. We have no affiliation with these fraudulent activities by third-party agencies.

How to identify recruitment fraud

Fraudulent recruiting attempts may include, but are not limited to:

  • Requests for payment of any kind (Indeed will never ask candidates to pay fees).
  • Requests for sensitive personal information early in the process, such as your home address, date of birth, passport details, government-issued national identification, or banking information.
  • Recruitment messages in the form of emails, phone calls, or text messages from third-party agencies or individuals not associated with Indeed, even if the message references a real or fake Indeed role. Always review the sender’s name and email domain carefully.
  • Messages sent from non-Indeed domains. All official Indeed recruiting emails come from email addresses ending in @indeed.com. Fraudulent domains may closely mimic our name (for example, @indeed-careers.com).
  • Requests to participate in “interviews” conducted solely via text-based chat or email.
    • Indeed does not conduct interviews exclusively through text-based chat or email. An Indeed recruiter will contact you directly to discuss the hiring process and schedule interviews.
  • Recruitment messages sent through social media platforms or messaging tools such as WhatsApp, Telegram, Skype, or Google Hangouts.
  • Recruitment messages about roles you did not apply to or interview for.
  • Pressure to act immediately or statements that an opportunity will expire within an unusually short timeframe.

What to do if you’re unsure

If you encounter any of the situations above, we strongly recommend that you:

  • Do not respond
  • Do not click on links or download attachments
  • Do not share any personal information
