Indeed for Employers

How is Indeed different from other places where I can post jobs?

Indeed is both a job search engine and an all-in-one hiring platform. Beyond jobs posted directly by employers, Indeed also aggregates job listings from thousands of sources across the internet, including job boards, company career websites, local news sites, staffing agencies and recruiter listings. Employers can post jobs directly on Indeed for additional features, including screener questions, Indeed Assessments, virtual interviews and more.

Check out our article, How to Post a Job on Indeed: Employer Guide, for more information about how Indeed works.

You’ll also get access to Hiring Insights, which includes data on salary, top search terms, competitive landscape data and more to help ensure your jobs are competitive.

Where do job seekers go after clicking on my job posting?

When someone clicks on your job posting on Indeed, they’ll be able to see the full job description and a button to apply. Applicants can then upload their resume if they’re interested in the role.

Which applicant tracking systems work with Indeed?

Many employers use applicant tracking systems (ATS) to manage online recruiting. For a full list of applicant tracking systems integrated with Indeed, visit our ATS Integrations page.

If you don’t have an ATS, Indeed has technology available at no additional charge that will allow you to track applicants when advertising on our site. You can manage all candidates who apply within your employer dashboard. In your dashboard, you can review applications and schedule interviews. This dashboard is available for all employers who post jobs directly on Indeed.

Can I post a job for free on Indeed?

Most jobs on Indeed can be posted for free.* But if you want a larger number of applicants, sponsoring your job gives your job post better visibility.

*Terms, conditions, quality standards and usage limits apply

Sponsored Jobs

What are Sponsored Jobs?

A Sponsored Job is a paid job posting. When a job seeker searches for a job on Indeed, Sponsored Jobs get better visibility and appear for longer than non-sponsored jobs. Plus, we’ve found that sponsoring can have a significant impact on hiring.

Sponsored Jobs posted directly on Indeed are 90% more likely to report a hire than non-sponsored job[1]

To learn more about sponsoring a job on Indeed, check out our article Sponsored Jobs 101.

When should I sponsor my job?

If you need to hire quickly or you’re hiring a hard-to-fill position, sponsoring your job can make a huge difference.

Here are a few things to consider when deciding if you should sponsor your job:

  • If you need to make a hire urgently, sponsoring can help you get more quality applicants in less time.
  • If the hiring market is competitive for the role you’re hiring, sponsoring your job can attract more candidates.
  • If you’re hiring in a location with smaller pools of talent (e.g. small town), sponsoring your job can give it a boost so that it’s seen by more people.

How do I sponsor my jobs?

You can post a job directly on Indeed to sponsor it. After adding your job description and other job details, Indeed shows you a suggested budget* for your specific job title and location. Decide how much to spend with a custom budget, starting at $5 per day or $150 per month.

*not available to all users/job types

You can also sponsor jobs from your career site or applicant tracking system. We’ll help you decide which jobs to promote and how to budget. Post your job to get started.

You can sponsor your job at any time from your Employer Dashboard. Just click Sponsor Job on the right-hand side of the job you want to sponsor.

How many jobs should I sponsor?

The number of jobs you should sponsor depends on the role you’re hiring for, your location, how soon you need to make a hire and your hiring budget. We’ll help you prioritize the jobs you should sponsor by location, job title or industry.

How do I know where my Sponsored Jobs will appear?

When people search for jobs on Indeed, they enter keywords relevant to their skills, interests and background. Your Sponsored Jobs will be displayed in search results when your job title, description, location and other information matches the search terms job seekers are looking for.

Sponsored Jobs remain displayed in relevant search results for as long as they are sponsored.

How can I measure the results of sponsoring my job on Indeed?

Indeed makes it easy to measure every aspect of your recruitment campaign. With Indeed Analytics, a feature available with Sponsored Jobs, you’ll be able to understand the performance of your jobs across Indeed. Here you can see high-level metrics, such as impressions, applications, clicks, apply rate and total spend, and determine where to dive deeper. You can also see a cost summary that includes how much you have spent, the cost per click, the cost per apply and more. These metrics help you understand the performance of your Sponsored Jobs across Indeed.

Indeed Assessments

What are Indeed Assessments?

Indeed Assessments are ready-to-use skills tests that can help you hone in on great applicants and decide who to contact for an interview. Assessments are designed by a team of Industrial/Organisational (I/O) psychologists and other experts. Applicants can take an Indeed Assessment after they’ve applied for your job.

Examples of Indeed Assessments include Customer Focus & Orientation, Attention to Detail and Work Style: Reliability. Check out our article, Using Indeed Assessments to Administer Candidate Skills Tests, to learn how to make the most of assessments for hiring.

Using Indeed Assessments reduces an employer’s time to hire by 17% on average.[2]

How do I add Indeed Assessments to my job post?

When you post your job on Indeed, the Customized screener page will show you relevant assessment/test recommendations from our library of 135 skills tests.

Once you’ve selected your assessments, you can choose to let Indeed send the assessment on your behalf to all applicants by selecting the tickbox agreeing to the Indeed Assessment Terms. If you prefer to handpick and invite applicants yourself, you can manually send the assessment to individual applicants once the job post goes live. Learn more about this process here.

Can candidates retake Indeed Assessments?

Candidates may retake an assessment, but only after six months have passed since the last time they took it and if an employer specifically requests it.

How do you prevent candidates from cheating?

Beyond monitoring for online copies of our questions and answers, there are other security precautions in place to help prevent cheating. For example, each Indeed Assessment comes with time limits and displays assessment question text as images. Our online Terms and Conditions also require all applicants and employers to keep assessment content confidential.

How do I view assessment results?

When a candidate completes the test, you’ll receive their score via email. You can also view their score in your Candidate Dashboard. Since all of your candidates take the same assessment for a given job opening (if they choose to take it), you can see how candidates perform in relation to each other.

Indeed Assessments score levels are Proficient and Completed. A score of N/A will be given when a candidate has started but not completed an assessment yet.

Screener questions

What are Screener questions?

Screener questions let you quickly find out whether or not an applicant meets your criteria upfront. When you post a job on Indeed, we’ll recommend pre-made Screener questions to choose from based on your job title. You can also create your own custom questions.

Examples of screener questions include:

  • How many years of experience do you have in XYZ?
  • Do you have a secondary school certificate?
  • Do you have a valid [license type]?
  • What percentage of the time are you willing to travel for work?

Candidates must answer your chosen Screener questions as part of the application process. As you start to receive applications, you can prioritize high-quality applicants first, filtering your list to identify those that meet your minimum requirements.

Jobs with Screener questions are 40% more likely to result in a hire.[3]

How do I add Screener questions to my job post?

When you post a job on Indeed, the Applicant Qualifications page will show you a list of pre-made questions or you can make your own. You can use a variety of question formats like:

  • Yes or no
  • Short answer
  • Multiple choice
  • Date or number
  • Request for file upload

After you’ve selected the questions you’d like applicants to answer, you can mark must-haves as ‘requirements’. If you mark any Screener questions as ‘requirements’, applicants who responded in a way that did not meet your requirements are automatically deprioritized and placed in your Rejected Tab. You can review these applicants at any time and move them to Reviewed instead.

Are there any Screener questions I’m not allowed to ask candidates?

Do not ask discriminatory or illegal questions, be personally invasive, or otherwise violate the Indeed Site Rules.

Learn more about Indeed Interview by checking out our article, How to Conduct a Successful Virtual Interview on Indeed.

Are virtual interviews on Indeed live or pre-recorded?

Indeed Interview is a platform for live video interviewing, which means both the interviewer and the candidate have to be present at the same time for the interview to take place. Once you’re connected, you’ll be able to see and speak with the candidate in real time.

How widely used is the Indeed mobile app?

Indeed is the number 1 job search app (business category) on iPhone and Android in 25+ countries.[4]

Applicants can easily ‘Apply Now’ directly from Indeed’s site or mobile app with their Indeed Resume or by uploading a new resume. If you are using Indeed Apply with an Applicant Tracking System (ATS) that integrates with Indeed, the completed application will appear in your Applicant Tracking System as usual. If you aren’t currently using an Applicant Tracking System, you can post your job directly on Indeed.

Employers who accept mobile applications receive up to 6X as many applicants.[6]

Claiming your Company Page can attract potential new employees to your jobs. After claiming your Company Page, encourage employees to write reviews and upload photos showing what life is like at your business. The feedback ratings from reviews will appear with search results on organic and Sponsored Jobs, encouraging job seekers to find out more about your job opportunities and culture.

What is the difference between Indeed Company Pages and Indeed Company Pages Premium?

Indeed Company Pages comes with basic branding options. Indeed Company Pages Premium gives you access to more advanced branding and analytics (e.g. videos and images, branded job postings, the ability to filter employee reviews and ratings). Employers can tell their story to 4 times more job seekers with Indeed Company Pages Premium.[8]

How do I claim my Company Page?

If you have an employer account and have posted a job on Indeed, your Company Page will automatically be claimed and tied to your account. You can then start editing and customizing your page to start building your employer brand.

If you don’t have an employer account on Indeed, you can claim your Company Page by:

  2. Find your Company Page in the search results and click on it.
  3. Within your Company Page, click the Why Join Us tab next to the Snapshot tab.
  4. On the right-hand side of your page, click ‘Claim this Company Page’.

Once you claim your Company Page, you can customize your profile with a logo, company description, location, industry, and links to your website and social profiles. If you want to claim a Company Page that has already been claimed, contact us.

Can I edit content in the reviews or forum sections?

Reviews are open forums and cannot be edited or moderated by the employer. We only remove a review if requested by the review author or if the review clearly violates our Content Guidelines. We encourage companies to engage reviewers by posting a comment directly on the review. Asking current and former employees to leave reviews is also an effective way to build a positive employer brand on Indeed.

What jobs appear on my Company Page?

Your Company Page will show all of your jobs currently listed on Indeed that meet quality guidelines.

Featured Employer

What is a Featured Employer?

Becoming a Featured Employer maximizes exposure of your company brand and jobs to your ideal candidates

How do I become a Featured Employer?

Featured Employer is not something you can sign up for. Instead, it’s awarded by Indeed based on factors like the number of open jobs at your company and how much you spend.

The Featured Employer program may be changed or removed by Indeed at any time, at Indeed’s sole discretion. Reach out to your Indeed Account Executive to learn more about the spending criteria to qualify for Featured Employer or contact our support team.

What is included with Featured Employer status?

When you’re a Featured Employer, your Sponsored Job shows up on the Indeed search results page with your company logo, which makes it easier for job seekers to recognize your company. In fact, mobile jobs with a Featured Employer logo have a 17% higher apply start rate. [9]

How much does Featured Employer cost?

Becoming a Featured Employer requires meeting a minimum monthly spending amount based on the number of jobs you have posted on Indeed.
