  • Willingness to obtain necessary certifications

How would you prioritize your workload as a Packer?

  • Accuracy in assessing how long it takes to complete tasks
  • Ability to prioritize tasks by level of importance

"I take a few minutes at the beginning of each shift to determine which tasks have the highest priority and which can be combined to save time. Depending on the task, I might dedicate more time to troubleshoot issues to stay on schedule."

Do you have experience with material handling equipment or a willingness to learn?

Packers generally load and unload shipments and transport goods throughout a warehouse. This question helps you understand what machinery candidates can operate and how quickly they might adapt to your material handling processes, warehouse systems and safety awareness protocols.  Listen for answers that show:

  • Experience with specific handling equipment, such as forklifts 
  • Understanding of warehouse machinery safety protocols 
  • Valid equipment licenses, such as a Commercial Driver's License (CDL)

How do you maintain high standards for accuracy when packing orders?

Accuracy can help Packers stay efficient while performing repetitive tasks quickly. To be successful in the role, candidates may develop strategies to fulfill orders accurately throughout their shift. This was a more complex method, which required adjustments to my routine. What strategies do you use to stay calm in fast-paced packing environments?

Fast-paced, high-volume positions are typically best approached calmly. This question may reveal which interviewees are already equipped to handle such environments.  Listen for answers that show:

  • Thoughtful strategies for maintaining progress in fast-moving environments 
  • Examples from previous experience in similar environments
