Serves as a resource to review and offer input and approval on driver applicants relative to their past employment and driving record.

Complete, or assist in the completion of, required reporting and record keeping (e.g. Smart Way).

Works with appropriate personnel to ensure DQ file accuracy and proper file maintenance.

Serves as a subject matter expert on accident investigations and incidents and provide guidance to supervisory staff.

Established education programs and develops safety personnel that directly report to this position

General Summary

Safety and Training

Plans and implements programs to educate and train employees on workplace safety practices, fire prevention, and correct handling techniques for chemicals, toxins, equipment, and other materials.

Regularly inspects facility to detect existing or potential accident and health hazards, determines corrective or preventative measures where indicated, and follows up to ensure measures have been implemented.

Employs proactive approach to managing workplace safety and accident prevention by utilizing Job Hazard Analysis, accident analysis, inspections and safety education and training.

Ownership and oversight of the following initiatives and programs to ensure compliance and increase awareness:

- Safety Committee

- Powered Industrial Truck Program/Infolink Training

- New Driver Certification

- Incident Investigations

- Emergency and Severe Weather Response Programs

- Automated External Defibrillator (AED) Program

Occupational Health

Has knowledge of diverse health effects, illnesses, and accidents associate with specific job functions; works with department business partner within the organization to identify, be aware of, and bring action to safety concerns.

Own and manage those actions, initiatives, and processes covered under the Infectious Disease Policy. This includes the complete oversight of COVID-19 related tracking reporting, and case management.

Provide information, signs, posters, barriers, and other materials to communicate potential safety hazards and to prevent access to hazardous conditions.

Conducts ergonomic assessments and implements recommended actions to ensure workplace health.

Ownership and oversight of employee pre-work screen and work fit/ fit for duty program.

Ability to administer First Aid and use of Automated External Defibrillator (AED) when appropriate.

Evaluate and manage employees request for reasonable accommodations in compliance with the ADA.

Reporting, Compliance and HR Related Responsibilities

Responsible for preparing and submitting reports including, but not limited to required accident reports, OSHA logs, Sustainability reporting, EPA and BLS.

Oversee the administration of workers' compensation program, including working with the insurance carrier to reduce employee lost time and work with health care provider to ensure balanced care.

Represent the organization at conferences, meetings and regulatory hearings.

Responsible for maintaining and updating all safety records, SOP's and written programs.

Demonstrate a Continuous Improvement mindset through participation in events and activities that lead to financial gain, time savings, and/or waste reduction for the business.

Education/Experience:

Bachelor's degree from four-year College or University required. Degree in Occupational Safety preferred. Three to five years safety experience and/or training in an industrial/distribution environment. Knowledge of OSHA regulations, hazard identification and corrections, environmental regulations, workers compensation and human behavior and physical attributes related to job capabilities.

Knowledge of Microsoft Office, HRIS systems and other safety related electronic platforms required for reporting and tracking.

OSHA General Industry Certification: CPR and First Aid Certifications required

Pay: $85,000.00 - $90,000.00 per year
