Position Description

Duties and responsibilities

• AdministrativeSupervise the operation of Children's House to ensure that the Center operates in accordance with all state licensing standards and in fulfillment of the church's mission
• Develop and maintain the operating policies and procedures as approved by the Ministry Staff
• Plan, in cooperation with the Children's House Team, a program suited to the needs of the children who attend the Children's House
• Maintain records of attendance, registration, student records, health records and licensing reports
• Plan in cooperation with the Ministry Staff, Sunday School teachers, and Custodians the use of the building and resources including space, equipment, food, records, and materials
• Maintain supplies, equipment, and resources necessary for the operation of the Center
• This position reports to a member of the Ministry Staff
• Vision

Develop goals and objectives and periodically evaluate progress

• Develop and implement a comprehensive continuous quality improvement plan for the programming, staffing, and physical environment of the day care
• Monitor the physical condition of the Children s House space and report any issues that need to be addressed to Ministry Staff to ensure that the environmental needs are addressed
• Develop systems for feedback from parents and staff
• PersonnelRecruit, hire, and maintain a qualified staff
• Supervise Children s House staff
• Evaluate staff at the completion of the probationary period and annually thereafter
• Maintain classroom staffing levels at all times to the proper ratio as specified in the DCFS licensing standards for the number of children present
• Ensure that staff receive the required training and that required documents are up to date and accurate
• As appropriate, use progressive discipline procedures in a timely manner
• Public relations

Act as a liaison between teachers, parents, Children's House Team, and the Central Baptist Church family

• Communicate current events and relevant needs with Central Baptist Church family.
• Conduct Children's House team meetings on a regular basis
• Promote Children s House to prospective parents, to the community, and to the Central Baptist Church family through all appropriate means
• Financial/Record KeepingAs directed by the Ministry Staff, prepare an annual operating budget for Children s House
• Monitor Income and expenses and react accordingly to variances in the operating budget to maintain a financially sound Center
• Administer the software used to track employee timekeeping, paid time off, children s

attendance, billing, and payments

• Administer the programs for reimbursement from various State agencies, Illinois State Board of Education (ISBE) and Department of Human Services (DHS)
• Maintain records of income, attendance, registration, student records, and licensing reports
• QualificationsThe Director must be at least 21 years of age
• The Director must have completed: A minimum of an associate degree in child development or early childhood educationor*
• the equivalent (defined as 64 semester hours in any discipline with a minimum of 21 semester hours of college credit in child development, early childhood education or early childhood special education)

• either a Gateways to Opportunity Level I Illinois Director Credential (see 89 Ill. Adm. Code 50.720(b) and [website])

Overview

The Director is responsible in the overall leadership and management of the preschool. This position is responsible for the smooth day-to-day operations, financial management, curriculum delivery, employee/student retention and achievement, parent/community relations, and strategic planning for the school. The Director must perform a variety of highly responsible, confidential and complex administrative duties including, but are not limited to, budgeting, marketing, book keeping/recording procedures, curriculum knowledge and employee relations.

1. Leadership and Management:

Oversee the daily operations of the daycare center, ensuring compliance with all licensing and regulatory requirements. It will be important for you to become familiar with the NYS Child Day Care Center regulations to ensure they are adhered to.

Recruit, train, supervise, and motivate teaching staff maintaining a high standard of performance and professionalism.

Develop and implement a comprehensive and age-appropriate curriculum and routine that promotes cognitive, social, emotional, and physical development.Foster a collaborative team culture that encourages open communication and professional growth. This will include leading regular team meetings.

2. Curriculum and Program Development:

Ensure curriculum and routine are in alignment with current educational standards and best practices in early childhood education.

Establish and maintain effective communication channels (daily reports, meetings) with parents and guardians, building strong partnerships to support each child's development.*Continuously evaluate and improve the curriculum and routine to meet the evolving needs of the children and reflect the latest educational research.

3. Parent and Community Engagement:

Collaborate with the team to organize regular parent-teacher conferences, workshops, and events to keep families engaged and informed about their child's progress. Activities 2x/month. Some examples would include: Yoga Class, Parents Night Out, Apple Picking Trip, Ice Cream Social, live performance/extra-curricular visit.

Prioritize the safety and well-being of all children and staff by ensuring a clean, secure, and hazard-free environment.*Act as a liaison between the daycare center and the local community, fostering positive relationships and enhancing the center's reputation and positive impact.

4. Health and Safety:

Monitor enrollment, tuition, and expenses to maintain financial sustainability.Implement health and safety protocols, including emergency procedures and COVID-19 guidelines, to safeguard the health of everyone on the premises.

Position Summary:

This position will lead a team of 35 staff (child care center and 7 school age child care sites) working together to offer quality education in a safe and nurturing environment. This $750K department has a focus on teamwork with the objective of helping children to learn, grow, and thrive.

Located 30 minutes from Madison, Wisconsin, the YMCA of Dodge County has a $3.0 million budget, an annual campaign goal of $200,000, and operates in a 15-year-old 65,000 square foot facility with the region's finest indoor water park and Child Development Center. The Y has a strong before/after school program with five sites located throughout the county. Programs are also driven by strong aquatic programs that includes operating six community aquatic centers. Our Y continually strives to create new ways of impacting over 23,000 lives annually.

Education and Certifications

A 2-year college degree in Early Childhood Education or related field required; must have Registry level of 12 or higher; 4-year college degree is preferred.

If college degree is not in Early Childhood Education, 12 college credit hours must be in early education field. College transcripts must be provided. If college degree is not in Early Childhood Education, must be able to start a Child Development Associate Credential (CDA) within 1 year of hire or equivalent as determined by the YMCA.

CPR/AED and First Aid required within first 60 days of employment and kept current.

Experience

Must have 2 years experience in child care or education field.

One year minimum of supervisory experience is strongly preferred.

Budget development and administration skills preferred. Planning and program development skills are helpful.

Must hold a valid driver s license, insurable driver s record according to the YMCA s insurance carriers, and have reliable transportation to travel for business meetings, training events, YMCA site visits, vendors, and suppliers, etc.

Computer skills needed, particularly with Microsoft Office and email applications, along with ability to learn the internal YMCA software.

Essential Functions

1. Plans, designs, evaluates, and implements all aspects of the child care programs in accordance with YMCA of the USA and YMCA of Dodge County guidelines.

15. Fills staff vacancies in accordance with association guidelines.

16. Ensures staff members maintain required training.

19. Substitutes in a classroom when needed.

20. Communicates to Associate Executive Director any concerns or incidents that may need follow-up.
