Student Management

Oversees day-to-day disciplinary issues in the high school and middle school, working closely with the Head of School, faculty, and staff.

Leads teacher trainings on classroom management.

Approaches discipline through the lens of restorative practices and executes a behavior management system that is grounded in a journey of helping students better understand their identity in Christ.

Communicates with parents effectively and proactively regarding student behavior concerns.

Assigns and coordinates detentions or other discipline measures.

Monitors student attendance and contacts home to follow-up on excessive and extended absences.

Maintains a system for accurate and complete record-keeping and reporting for all attendance and disciplinary records.

Oversees unstructured times throughout the day in the middle school building (hallways, lunch, before/after school).

Administrative

Associate Dean of Students for Residential and Community Life

The Associate Dean of Students for Residential and Community Life works closely with the Dean of Students to design and implement a comprehensive residential life curriculum for students. The Associate Dean of Students for Residential and Community Life is responsible for the prefect leadership-training program, student permissions, travel plans and weekend program planning. The Associate Dean of Students for Residential and Community Life must be flexible and work with the Student Life Team to support students amidst the many needs that arise in a hands-on, caring boarding environment

Serve on duty during the week, and on the weekend. This includes conducting check-in, giving medication, securing building, conducting lights out.

Schedule the house faculty duty calendar and work with head prefect to schedule prefect duty schedule.

Serve as primary contact for all Residential Life related concerns.

Lead house meetings, prefect meetings, and house faculty meetings to manage all communication and dorm incidence.

Plan house programs and activities.

Provide an atmosphere where students feel at home and feel they matter.

Make sure medicine log is filled out properly with House Faculty, and that all medicine is properly contained and dispersed.

Conduct room checks.

Manage student's departure during holiday travel dates. Make sure all students are accounted for at the end of holiday travels.

Collaborate with Environmental Services to make sure the common areas in the houses are maintained and kept clean and orderly.

Plan and Supervise Prefect selection and training.

Manage all facilities related issues that can be handled without escalating the problem to facilities. For example, showing students how the heating systems work and helping them move heavy objects.

Daily make sure the dorms are safe and that all students are accounted for.

Manage the discipline Points system and assign detention.

Supervise the weekend duty schedule with the Administrator on Duty and duty team, providing directions, parking information, payment options, timetables and alternative events.

Assemble weekend duty information binders for Administrator on Duty and duty team use. Review overnight permission requests and confirm permissions.

Coordinate all student transportation during week and weekend including travel and weekend testing.

Coordinate transportation for all boarding students during holiday dates. This includes creating and disseminating forms, collecting and organizing data, scheduling car services and duty team transportations.

Position Summary:
The Assistant Dean of Students & Director of Residence Life plays an essential role in creating a sense of belonging and community, and advocating for and responding to the needs of all university students, including up to 180 residential undergraduates. The Assistant Dean provides direct supervision to the Residence Life Coordinator, Campus Safety Manager, Director of Student Engagement. This position oversees the day-to-day administrative operations of the Office of Residence Life, including housing contracts, room assignments, occupancy management of a 180-bed residential facility, room and board billing, and the training and selection processes for resident assistants (RAs). In collaboration with the VP and Dean of Students, the Assistant Dean provides leadership for the administration of the university conduct process, Clery reporting, and Title IX compliance. The Assistant Dean engages in leadership practices that are collaborative, creative, and adaptive. Essential Responsibilities:
Assistant Dean of Students

• In collaboration with the VP for Student Development & Dean of Students, provide strategic leadership to the Division of Student Development.

Residence Life

• Collaborate with the Campus Safety Manager to organize and implement the after-hours on-call emergency response rotation.

• Ensures accuracy of Title IX institutional data and oversees compliance with required reporting under applicable state and federal laws.
• Oversees the Campus Safety budget.
